6 Hospital Bag Essentials

hospital bag for birth

As the big day approaches, getting your hospital bag packed and ready to go is an important step in the process of getting prepared! Here is a list of 10 things you should pack in your bag to keep you comfortable and fully prepared to be a new mom.

1. Your Favorite Snacks and Drinks

The hospital will provide you with water but talk to your doctor about any other drinks you are allowed to drink. As far as snacks go, hospital food can get boring really quick so you will be so thankful for all of those snacks you packed!

2. A Comfortable Pillow

Bringing along your own pillow can be a great source of comfort especially if you have a long labor and need to take a nap. It can also add extra support for your head or back during delivery!

3. Something to Keep Your Hair Up

The last thing you want to deal with while giving birth is those annoying little hairs that always find a way to get in your eyes. Be sure to pack a headband or scrunchie to keep those hairs up and out of the way! The silk scrunchies from More Sunday are super soft and have a molecular structure that keeps moisture in your hair enabling it to reduce frizz, tangles, static and creases, leaving your hair silky and free from ridges and that damaging tug.

4. Toiletries and Cosmetics

At some point after giving birth you will want to freshen up by brushing your teeth and washing and combing your hair. A few things you can include in your toiletry bag are:
  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Face wash
  • Deodorant
  • Lip balm
  • Lotion

5. A Comfortable Robe

A comfortable robe is an ideal and convenient cover up for those walks to the bathroom or around the halls in the hospital. They are also great to nurse in (if you are going to be nursing) because it keeps you covered up and warm while also being super easy to open up when its time to breastfeed. And, since the baby is going to touch your skin you're going to want to wear clothes that are OEKO-TEX certified so that you're sure there are no harsh chemicals rubbing off on your baby.

6. Fresh Clothes to Change Into After Labor

A fresh new pair of clean clothes can be so refreshing after sweating through all the hard work of labor. This two piece silk set will have you feeling like the most luxe new mom in the whole hospital. Silk is known to be a super lightweight and natural breathable fiber that wicks away sweat to keep you cool. And, just like the robe, the silk sets are standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certified free from harmful chemicals and pesticides so you know it is safe for you, your baby and the environment.

"I can't emphasize how much I love sleeping, lounging and going out in my silk set. Fitted but not tight, both the top and bottom can be worn everyday...and every way. I'm obsessed! The silk is so buttery soft too."
